Very Fine & Large 14 JAPANESE EDO-PERIOD SATSUMA Art Pottery Vase c. Very Fine & Large 14 JAPANESE EDO-PERIOD SATSUMA Art Pottery Vase , circa 1860. FREE PICK-UP IN THE CHICAGOLAND AREA.
Up for your consideration is a large Satsuma art pottery vase, from the late Edo period, c. The piece is beautifully hand-painted and glazed, with gold accents throughout. It features three interesting characters, apparently with supernatural powers. The vase measures an impressive 14" in diameter and 8" wide, and is heavy for its size.It is unsigned, which is typical of pieces from this era. The vase is in excellent condition, with wear to the gilt on the upper rim, and the band just below it. The figures show little wear.
It is free of scratches, chips, or cracks. There is a pinky-tip sized area just under the rim that has a different (slightly rough) texture. This may be a minor restoration, and is clearly depicted in the last photo. It is hard to detect. This quote is for the Continental U. Only, and the item will be sent via UPS.
