Very Fine Japanese WW2 Gendaito Katana in Shirasaya
My photos do not do justice for this beautiful sword. I photographed the hamon in low light to show the details and that lighting makes the blade to appear as dull, actually the polish is brilliant. A very fine WW2 Gendaito katana (traditionally forged nihonto, Not a factory made blade) in shirasaya made for the Japanese Imperial Army. The mei reads "Noshu Seki ju Yamada Toshichika". Yamada Toshichika was one of the 300 approved swordsmiths working at the Seki City sword district from the late 1930's through to the end of the war. The katana is forged flawlessly. No kizu with very dense hada. No rust, no chips, no dents or bends. The blade almost looks flawless holding it in your hands.
The hamon is ko choji and the nie line is 100% visible on the ura and omote. Nagasa is 66.2 cm with a sori of 1.2 cm.
