A very finely carved & incised Japanese netsuke of a puppy dog with inlaid eyes. It almost looks like an adorable bear cub. The color is a little less reddish than shown in the gray background, or a little lighter & more yellowish-reddish than the ones in the white background. Also overall the front (left half of the puppy) is a little lighter than the back. From peanut butter to caramel/toffee hue.
I do not specialize in Japanese antiques & do not know how to date the piece. From a dealer's estate in storage for 2 decades. 2 inches long & 1.25 in. Some tight age lines well hidden among the incised hairlines, not very noticeable. Otherwise in excellent condition, with the usual & expected minor age flaws such as rubs, wears, scratches, dirts.
Please keep in mind that each monitor's brightness and color is a little bit different, it might show a little darker/brighter, or the colors might tint towards another color hue. Please see below for reason.
