A Tranquil 8-inch Sleeping Crane Ko-Kutani Footed Dish. This exceptional piece of Ko-Kutani pottery is elegant and delicately beautiful. A sleeping crane is defined by the borders of the bowl, yet, in the recession of the dish, its feathers are deeply raised, creating a trick-of-the-eye that gives the impression that the crane is rising from the dish! This gorgeous bowl has a lovely warm-brown lip with blue edging on the foot. This dish likely is a product of Ko-Kutaniware of the late 19. The piece is signed in blue on the base. This piece is in NEAR MINT condition! The overglaze is bright and pure, and the piece shows very few, if any, signs of use or wear! This museum-ready piece is ready to be displayed or gently and carefully used.
