This nicely cast Meiji period bronze has the Kirin or Kylin (a magical positive beast) as the figural central element, and it appears on one side of the vessel while a turtle is on the other. The dimensions are approx 9 1/2" W x 9" H x 5 W, and it weighs approx 5 pounds. While in very nice detailed condition there is a casting error on one broad side, a small hole which you see in the last photo above. It has the heart shaped openings at the top suggesting it was intended as a censor or Koro.
