Fine Vintage Japanese Okimono Of Fisherman And Son Hand Carved Artist Signed. This is a lovely and heavy Okimono. Weighing more than a pound and a half or close to 800 grams. The carving stands approximately 9 inches tall and has wonderful detail. For example look at the detail in the fishermans fabric belt.
My father had this piece prominently displayed. There are 3 problems however. It seems that over the years this piece may have been knocked over by a cleaning woman, grand children or other people not sure what they were doing. The top of the fishing pole has broken off, as has the top portion of the fishermans hand and a side tip of the fishermans hat draping over his back. These are imaged to see.
However this is a rare and lovely piece of Okomono. Unfortunately not in museum quality shape today, but it is still a wonderful and irreplaceable work of art.
