Fantastic pair of rare bronze vases by Meiji artist Takeuchi Chubei. Each of a compressed globular form with a long neck and flared rim. Vases are decorated in very fine complementary patterns featuring six foo lions playing among the scrolling chrysanthemums, dragons in the clouds coiling around the long necks and with additional foliate motifs and a greek key embellishing their flared rims. Each with a characteristic Takeuchi Sei mark and patent number to the base. Condition: Good antique condition with some age-related surface wear and marks consistent with age.
