Stunning Meiji era Satsuma vase by Kitamura. One of the finest i havr ever seen. Very fine artwork showing a Feudal Lord's procession, possibly en route to meet the Shogun which was the custom. 21cm high and about 11cm at widest.
Kitamura was one of the best studios/artists. Signature is faint but readable close up. Unfortunateltly there is a fine hairline crack on one side of the vase as photoed including through one of the elephant handles but it barely detracts from a very fine piece since it is not hugely noticeable unless you inspect closely. But please look at photos to satisfy yourself. This is realistically priced for sale. This item is in the category "Antiques\Asian/Oriental Antiques\Japanese\Vases".
