Fine Large Meiji KUTANI Japanese Porcelain VASE-Bird Decoration-Well Marked

The vase is about 11 7/8 inches tall and 5 3/4 inches in diameter. It has a low domed base with a conical flared neck with a serrated top edge. It is glazed in white, and is nicely decorated in a traditional palette of primarily iron red, black and gold. The neck is decorated with a mass of small birds, and the base has a peacock & pea hen It is marked on the base with an 11 character mark in overglaze red in three columns.

Condition on the piece is fairly good. There are no chips or cracks, but there is wear to the decoration, especially the gold highlights.

A fine large piece of Kutani porcelain.
