Fine Japanese Satsuma Miniature Box, Signed Ryuzan, Meiji Period
Dating from around 1900 to 1910, the box features a beautiful top cover with six figures set against a cobalt blue and gold background, along with other decorative elements around the sides and inside the box. The box measures a mere 3 inches in diameter and 1 inch high, and is signed on its base with the gold Ryuzan mark below the red Shimazu cross. In generally excellent condition, the only imperfections are two tiny rim losses, the first of which is shown in my photos 10 and 11 and the second in photo 12. Both of these are very unobtrusive and do not detract from the overall beauty of the box.
