FINE Japanese Makie LACQUER faux TORTOISE SHELL cheroot/CIGAR CASE-inro. A larger size Japanese cigar/cigarillo case in faux tortoise shell. The 2-part case is made from an organic material (tinted horn) with light blonde & scarcer than usual patchy pattern on the cover & denser on the insert. On the cover figure of 2 blackbirds/crows perching on a gnarling 5-needle pine branch under mountain peak, and on the opposite side 2 butterflies hovering over a blooming grass bush with semi-raised details highlighted in gold & silver lacquers. Insert hardly fits (see CONDITION below) into the stylized & notched cover, unmarked.

Insert/inner part 4.42"x 2.77"x0.86"- mm, cover/upper part 4.39"x2.84"x0.99" - mm. Excellent with a tiny hole on cover edge (bug-eaten/nibbled, blue-circled in the last 2 pictures). EXTREMELY tight for insert to fit into its cover, then almost impossible to dis-engage them later - we've tried only once for the photo session - thus the case/box might NOT be suitable for daily usage, but rather only for display.
