Fine JAPANESE Brass Meiji Period PAPER KNIFE-DRAGONS Handle-NR

For sale is a very fine Japanese Meiji period brass and bone paper knife. The piece is 8 1/4 inches long, and the handle is 3 1/8 inches long by 1 inch wide. The brass handle features a finely detailed dragon on both sides.

The blade is made of bone, with a rounded tip. There are traces of gilding on the blade; it may have been decorated originally. It has not been monogrammed.

Condition on the piece is fairly good. The blade is loose and wiggles side to side. It has some edge chips and dark spots, as well as traces of old gold decoration. The handle has the normal signs of use. A fine old paper knife.
