Original Japanese maroon polished lacquer covers - originally from a 19th century photograph album - with fine decoration, including an intricate fan design. Two large panels of maroon polished lacquer, comprising the original upper and lower boards from a Japanese photograph album.
The panels conjoined with a spine but could easily be separated. White and gilt speckled paper pastedowns on verso of each board.
Both boards with floral decoration in orange and black. The upper also illustrated with fan designs, in slight relief, in a variety of colours, including gilt, blue, orange and brown.
