Exquisite Japanese Studio Porcelain Vase Description and Item Information Up for sale is this stunning, old Japanese decorated studio porcelain vase. Please excuse the glare in the photos. This piece has a wonderful, simple form which is decorated with multicolored, complex glazes in muted tones.
The decoration includes foliage with peaches, berries, and flowers. The upper and lower rims also have decoration.
This pot weighs just under 2 3/4 pounds, unpacked. It is approximately 10 5/8 inches tall, with a diameter of about 6 inches.
This would be a fine addition to a collection of Asian ceramics. Identification This piece has a round impressed mark beneath, as shown. I do not know the name of the artist that produced it. It is believed to be early twentieth century Japanese porcelain. It was made in the manner of Makuzu Kozan. Condition This piece displays very well overall. It has very light wear (a few short and fine scratches). It was assembled as a lamp when I acquired it. Thus, the base has a large drill hole, with chipping around the hole; on either side of the hole, a short and very fine hairline emanates. It will not hold water. Otherwise, this piece has no chips or cracks.Payments must be received within three days of the end of the listing, unless prior arrangements have been made. And international government regulations prohibit such behavior.
