Really finely painted antique Japanese teapot and sugar bowl depicting unusual atmospheric scenes with birds flying in the forest. With flower finials and gold accents on the handles, spout and around the rims. Very rare examples of this type.
Each marked to the base with iron red mark. Both in very good condition with only minor nibbles to the inner rim of the teapot lid (not visible when the lid is on) and very short hairline at the base of its handle as per photographs. (any other darker areas in the photos are just reflections on the surface of the porcelain).
Height: teapot 19 cm, sugar bowl 14 cm. Date of production: early 20th century, Meiji - Taisho period.
