Fine Antique Japanese Geisha Girl Hanetsuki Hagoita Paddle Gold Shadow Box Frame

Amazing antique c1910s turn of the century Japanese Hanetsuki hagoita. This elaborately decorated wooden paddle was used in a game called Hanetsuki played by woman during the new year. This is one of the finer antique hagoitas I have seen with a superb textile Geisha girl rising up off of the wooden paddle. Amazing craftsmanship with intricate detail and may various fabrics used to compose this piece. Further it is framed behind glass in a period c1920s antique gold gilded wood shadow box frame which tells us that the paddle is most likely significant for someone took the time to frame it in this spectacular frame. Perhaps once belonging to a woman of some notoriety in Japan. I have not removed the paddle from the shadow box to check for an inscription on the reverse side. Paddle in Excellent condition considering age and fragility.

Exhibits gentle wear, soiling and staining but minimal. Geisha Girl affixed firmly to wood paddle.

Frame in Excellent condition with no chips or missing pieces. Glass exhibits some gentle scratches. Paddle measures 18 x 6. Frame interior measures 24 x 12 x 1 1/8 deep.
