Fine Antique Japanese Cloisonne Silver Wire Enamel Ginger Jar w/ Rooster & Hen. A very beautiful antique Meiji cloisonne vase.
Finely detailed rooster, hen and chicks in fine silver wire is fun and colorful. Ground color is early Meiji soft light blue. Nicely detailed top and bottom borders in many colors. Top lid is adorned with wonderful pierced finial. A work of art in its own right, it spins and moves a bit, but seems to me as exactly as it was designed. This vase exhibits very high standard of fine Japanese hand craftsmanship. I estimate from the early Meiji Period. The cloison detail work in silver wire was certainly performed by a master of Japanese cloisonne.
This antique vase is in excellent original condition. No cracks, repairs, or dents. The digital camera does a good job. Around the shoulder you can see what I would call kiln dust.
It is in the enamel from very old techniques and not uncommon in really old pieces. Pretty uniform, does not detract.
Part of the beauty of a piece that continues to survive after over 100 years. Approximate size is 6 1/2" tall, 4 1/2" at widest.
Please see photos as an integral part of this description. Sometimes the camera catches what I don't. From my own personal collection, this fine vase would be an excellent addition to your own cloisonne collection. All serious, reasonable offers considered. Please check my other auctions.
