NAMIKAWA YASUYUKI, FINE ANTIQUE JAPANESE MEIJI CLOISONNE OVOID JAR & COVER. The design is exceptional in its detail, decorated in polychrome enamels and silver and gilt wire, with a blue dragon to one side, and a ho-ho bird to the other. The sides are filled with cherry blossom and peonies on a deep cream ground. The design is picked out in the utmost detail, with the finest craftmanship and tiny'cloisonnes', as to be expected from this best of Kyoto workshops. The lid features a ball and claw gilt metal finial, and the jar stands on a shaped four footed base.
Internally the jar is coated in pale blue enamel. Height: 13.9 cm or 5 1/2 inches. Width: 10.3 cm or 4 inches. In good antique condition, without damage or restoration, one minute loss to the enamel at the neck to the jar.
