Moriage is often compared to'cake frosting' as it is used on top of a smooth surface to add a three-dimensional appearance. This unmarked vase is c1880 as the Nippon mark was required onwards from 1891. Nippon porcelain was very transparent, good quality but thick enough for durability. This vase pass the light test (see video and photo) - when the base is held up to direct light this vase are transparent and the hand decoration is exquisite. Overall the vase is in amazing condition for its age.
