A fine Japanese Meiji Period articulated bronze crayfish/lobster. Lifelike articulated lobster figure (jizai okimono), made of copper, with movable parts. The unification of Japan and subsequent peace brought about by the Tokugawa government, caused a decline in the demand for arms and armor, and some metalsmiths diverted their energies to creating household items, farm tools, and some decorative works such as this kind of figurine. Measures : 20.00 cm x 6.00 cm x 8.00 cm.
