Brass top and bottom rims with wonderful patina from age. Hard to photo this little guy, so please review them all. This vase exhibits very high standard of fine Japanese hand craftsmanship. Signed on base with mark of MIWA TOMISABURO, dating to the Golden Age Period. So rare, I had to dust off my old Coben and Ferster Japanese Cloisonne, History, Techniques and Appreciation, First Edition 1982 to find an example - Page 211, Plate 40.
My last photo shows this mark clearly. This antique vase is in excellent original condition. Digital camera picks up some pin pricks in enamel from when made. One spot about size of three pin pricks but could not get to show in a photo.
Digital camera of high gloss black picks up everything. Normal wear to base rim. The recurring white spot is flash.
Cabinet size at approximately 2 9/16 tall. Very solid, well made little vase. RARE opportunity to acquire a work of art from a master of Japanese cloisonne.
Please see photos as an integral part of this description. Sometimes the camera catches what I don't. From my own personal collection, this fine vase is gorgeous in hand and would be an excellent addition to your own cloisonne collection.
