Japanese Fine Antique Massive Wood Demon Pipe Carved, Kyoto Netsuke & Tobacco. Carried in by a soldier after World War 2. This is a unique Japanese large hand carved wood kiseru Yakusa pipe. The massive pipe It features a deeply incised Hanyya demon carving.

Its high quality and unusual long and thick size suggests it was a special commission. Lovely warm brown patina- well cared for and well loved. Dimensions: 12 inches in length and 2.5 inches diameter at widest. The name kiseru is said to have derived from the Cambodian word khsier around the 16th century. Kiseru pipes were mainly used until the Meiji era, when tobacco rolled in paper i.
