The pot features an extraordinary level of detail and precision in the hand painting, and has the mark of the famed Kinkozan on its base, as illustrated on page 237 of Louis Lawrence's definitive book Satsuma:The Romance of Japan. The pot measures 3 3/4 inches wide and is 1 3/4 inches high, including its finely painted lid. I noticed a few miniscule flecks to the rim of the pot (see photos 11-12), but these in no way affect the overall beauty of the piece, which is in overall excellent condition with no rubbing to the decoration.
